Cubism (John Manginas) from Athens, Greece, was always a big fan of electronic music as he was growing up. His exceptional passion for electronic music led him to the decision of buying his first DJ decks. After a year of savings he managed (with a little help from his father) to buy his decks and start djing. By the time he was 16 he was already playing on various house parties and by the age of 17 he stepped into the clubs.
As soon as he finished school, Cubism already knew he wanted to study Sound Engineering, and so he did. That year was also the same year he decided to start producing his own tunes. After 2 years of studying Sound Engineering and experimenting with genres such as: Minimal Techno, Progressive House and more, in the year 2010 he created the project “Cubism”.
Cubism stands his ground in many ways, sounds and styles, with a wide genre variety, from Dubstep and Drum n Bass to Glitch Hop, Electro and more. His first release as Cubism was with 2MuchBass Records and managed to get support in about a year later, from names like: Cyberoptics, Culprate, Maksim, KOAN Sound, Teknian, Chrispy, Helicopter Showdown, Habstrakt, Asa and more. In 2 years he also managed to have experience from gigs supporting artists like: Pendulum, Doctor P, Skism, Dubba Jonny, Calvertron, Flux Pavillion, Funtcase, 16Bit and more.
There are so many things that Cubism would like to do and give to the EDM world, that all these are considered as “Just the beginning” as he says. The year 2013 will surely be a big year for him as he already plans to release EPs with well-respected labels and artists, showing in plain view some of his potential.
